Ofsted and Performance Data

What is Ofsted?

Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills.  Ofsted report directly to Parliament and are independent and impartial.  Ofsted inspect and regulate services which care for children and young people, and those providing education and skills for learners of all ages.

The School Data Dashboard provides a snapshot of school performance at Key Stages 1 and 2 and can be used by parents, school governors and by members of the public to check the performance of the school in which they are interested.

The Dashboard complements the Ofsted school Inspection Report by providing an analysis of school performance over a three-year period.

Data can be filtered by key stage or by topic:

  • Expected progress
  • Attainment
  • Attendance
  • Narrowing the gap between disadvantaged and other pupils

We at Arnold View are proud of the achievements of the school and our children and whilst test results alone will not give you a complete picture, along with other information and yours and your children’s personal experiences they will help you to gain a better understanding of our school.

Ofsted Inspection December 2023

Arnold View Primary School was inspected by Ofsted in December 2023. The visit was the second short inspection since the school was inspected in 2014. We are delighted that the inspector recognised that we continue to be a good school.

"So much to celebrate"

The whole school community of Arnold View Primary School are delighted with the outcomes of their recent Ofsted inspection. We are celebrating the many positive comments in their recent Ofsted report.

A big thank you to the whole school community for their on-going support.

"I am thrilled with our recent Good Ofsted Inspection result - it reflects the hard work and dedication of our highly skilled staff term and the all-round high-quality education that all of our pupils receive. “

Performance Results – An Introduction

The national curriculum is a set of subjects and standards used by local authority maintained primary and secondary schools so children learn the same things. It covers what subjects are taught and the standards children should reach in each subject.

There are ‘attainment targets’ – usually split into  levels for each subject.

Every year the Department for Education publishes information on the achievement and attainment of pupils in all schools.  These tables provide a guide to how well a school is doing.  They list National Curriculum test results for each school in England and show how they compare with other schools.

As well as our own schools performance results you are able to access information on all schools throughout England so that you are able to see how each individual school compares with others, locally, county and nationally and against the average across the country.

The data covers a number of years and in addition to the more well known SATs results also compares issues such as disadvantaged pupils comparative performance, pupil progress, pupil absence, staffing and spending etc.
