9 – Kestrels

Mr Arrowsmith

Welcome to our Kestrels (Class 9) webpage. We are a Year 5 class and we have been working hard since we came together in September of last year. Now we are in the summer term (can’t you tell by the weather!), we are look at life cycles of humans and why we have similar characteristics as our parents and grandparents. We will compare this to the life cycles of other animals as well as those of the plants of the world. For the last part of our studies in 2017, the focus falls on crime and punishment and how we have developed the current legal system we have today. We are looking forward to visiting the Galleries of Justice in Nottingham city centre, especially now it has been extensively refurbished,in June 2017.

In connection with the other subjects we are planning, our outdoor PE focus will be on tennis and athletics, with some gymnastics included when the weather prevents us from getting outside.  Personally, as a sports fan, and particularly a fan of football, I love seeing all children progress at sports from whatever level they start at.  We had some great successes recently as we completed our swimming sessions.  In all that they attempt,  I just ask that children have a positive attitude, show some RESILIENCE and PERSEVERANCE, and are determined to IMPROVE  in all that they attempt!  (These are some of the new ‘Behaviours for Learning’ that we are embracing as a school).  I hope you enjoy our website, and don’t forget to follow each class on their individual TWITTER pages (just Google ‘viewavps’).
